I am a Nashville recording artist and after making my demo's it is very critical to hear ever detail. After talking to a Crutchfield advisor about my limited amout of space and not wanting an overkill on bass he recomended this Alpine sub. I was impressed, I mean for a tiny sub it filled the gap! Now if your wanting your friends down the road to hear you then maybe this is not what you need. But if it is in a limited space and ease of installing and a fair amount of low end this maybe your ticket. I know what good sound sounds like after recording five albums and eight "World Top Ten" Indie hit songs, buy it and try it for 30 days and I'll bet you will want to keep it like I did! Kris

I own a 2000 eclipse. I have had a 400 watt sub in the car, and it did sound really good. But, I added a RF P450.4, RF250.2, a set of infinity tweeters, replaced the door speakers with Inifinity 6012s, replaced the rear speakers with JL Audio TR690xi, added a set of 4" Inifinity to the rear panels, added a cap, and using an Alpine 9847 head unit. All of these highs required an upgrade to the lows. I bought this item because of its size, and I was not expecting it to be so powerful. It really is equivalent to a set of 10s. It may not be as boomy as a set of 10s made by JL or RF, but it is way more powerful than a 400 watt max ten inch mounted in a ported box. The key to these subs is the break-in period. It says in the manual to allow 20 hours of playtime before you can really turn them up. This is pretty accurate, because they sounded like junk when they initially started, but after 10 hours of playtime, they are now sounding amazing. I highly recommend these. You will be amazed by the volume of sound and the actual size of this item.

I am running an alpine head unit into a 200 watt infinity amp to power a set of 5 and 1/4 inch polk component speakers. My son convinced me that I need to add a sub for no system is complete w/out one. I choose the Alpine PLT 5 because my infinity would not support a sub so the PLT combo sub/amp was perfect. All I had to do was feed out of the infinity w/patch cord to the PLT 5. The PLT 5 is Great! As well I got it @ the scratch and dent price which was great. I highly recommend the PLT 5. I also highly recommend Crutchfield!

I highly recommend this unit. I had the Bazooka BTA10200 in my Dodge Quad Cab and it doesn't come close to this Alpine PLT-5. Loud clean and crisp bass vibrating all my mirrors inside and out. The remote control is also a huge plus enabling me to adjust the bass depending on the music. The units design is more in line with the vehicle interior as well. The unit has some weight to it (47 lbs.) which also increases confidence in the design. Way to go Alpine and Crutchfield!

I drive a regular cab pick up and wanted something to spice up the factory sound. I was very skeptical of this sub box, as most powered sub boxes dont perform as advertised. After much research, I took a chance and bought the PLT-5. Install was a snap and only took 30 minutes. HOLY COW, this subs really thumps! I was not expecting the output of this small package. I'm a rocker and this box is perfect. Very tight bass response. This box also put out really nice low frequencies too! I have had many systems in my day and for the money, this system is by far the best! Highly recommended. Also, dont buy from anywhere else. ALWAYS buy from Crutchfield! Their customer service is unbeatable! Thanks Crutchfield!
