I bought the 5 year warranty thinking this was going to be the last system I would buy for years. Installed with with the recommended wiring and capacitor. Sounded good for the first couple days nothing like 2 12" subs sound like. Day 3 started to smell funny while playing music. Day 4 popped all 3 fuses. When i tried to replace the fuses they would instantly pop before getting inserted completely even when the remote wire was disconnected. Crutchfield stood by their warranty and sent me a prepaid label to send it back and refunded me 100% of my money!! I was sure I was going to have to pay for something. Thank you crutchfield!! I will buy another custom system from you pretty sure it wont be Alpine though :) Darrel

Considering it costs $800 or $900 to buy a good 500w Amp and Sub enclosure, this piece is OK. I wouldn't say great. It does not hit at all in the <30hz range, especially evident in the 'flubbing' sound from a kick drum at any real volume. I also noticed a tendency for the 6" speakers to resonate around 100-125 hz, giving a slight increase in volume when the music passes through that range. Distortion is obvious at high volume in all ranges. Best if used for folk, jazz, or classical music. I tested using Eclipse CD7000.

I read a couple reviews for the PLV-7, including the two previously posted here on Crutchfield and decided to try the sub out in my car. After getting it installed today I gotta say I completely agree with the other reviews. Man this thing can move some serious air. Very crisp, EXTREMELY loud... easily headache producing. It takes such a small amount of space that I'm still able to get to my spare tire without taking the box out of the trunk. I had two Infinity Perfect 12.1s and a PPI 1800 in my previous car... in my opinion this compact sub performs just as well if not better. With such a small footprint and the amazing efficiency you can't go wrong.

I just had this installed in my X5 yesterday and WOW! It's LOUD! If you're looking for the output of 2 12" woofers without sacrificing too much space, this is the subwoofer system for you. There is also ZERO mechanical vibration coming from the box. I put it on full blast and felt no vibration at all! The only issue I found was that it doesn't handle the really low notes very well, but then again, I'm comparing it to the 2 15" Solobaric round woofers I used to have in my old car, so it naturally shouldn't handle the low notes as well. But I'm just being picky. This is a great system for anyone who would consider themselves a "basshead". Not sure how it would sound in a sedan, but it's a must for any SUV or hatchback. This system has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Just had this baby installed in a 2006 TSX. All I have to say is WOW. Crisp. Clean. and OMG DOES IT POUND! Takes up no space what-so-ever, I am VERY please. If you plan on putting one of Alpines LAT systems in your vehicle, note the PLT-5 is ONLY for trucks with a bed, w/or w/out extended cab. Car trunks, SUV's have to go with the PLV-7 if you want bass equivelent to two 12's. I highly endorse this product.
