I have been using this product with both the Alpine IVA-W200 which integrates awesome and allows for an amazing amount of customization in terms of setting crossover points for individual speakers, along with time correction along with the parametric EQ. There is no need for a center channel with the phantom center channel feature it is the best car audio listening experience ever. This product integrates perfectly with the alpine multimedia units and I also have used it with the CDA- 9887 with its own control unit, the experience is very different because the H 701 gives you more adjustability in terms of sound correction but the display leaves something to be determined. Its super easy to integrate but I should warn that to use this to its full potential you must have a mid to high level of car audio experience because it will not program itself. I would say this as a must for anyone installing 5.1 in their vehicle, I have tried the other brands such as Audio Control and alpine takes the prize hands down. The one down side is that the wiring harness for the unit is not very long so its hard to find a place to hide the thing because it is not that small and depending on the vehicle you may not be able to fit it under the seat.

I bought the PXA-H701 for my IVA-W205 and it is absolutely awesome when fine-tuned. You do not need a center speaker. The phantom center speaker function works great with movies and surround sound. The apple lossless from my iPod sounds perfect without the media expander function. I played around with the crossover and slope adjustments until it sounds perfect. You can also add bass to any of the speakers to fine tune the sound further. Time correction adds the final touch.

I have an Alpine IVA-W200 to control this and it is staggering how much you can do with it. This isn't for everyone, but if you want true 5.1 (most decks that play DVDs downmix to 2 channel), or if you want TOTAL control over your crossover points, slopes, parametric EQ, time correction, etc., then this is definitely worth it. Make sure you get a center channel if you use this.
My only gripe is that you can't do automatic time correction through the head unit (you need the seperate controller for that).
