I need a simple remote for volume control, switching sources and bands. This does exactly what I need it to do. I haven't found a place to stick the cradle in the cab of my pickup truck so it just sits on the seat beside me.
I figure if I have to reach all the way to the radio (or further) to reach the remote I may as well just twist the knobs on the radio.
You may have a better surface to stick the remote - all my surfaces are curved.

DO NOT order this remote if you are using the iDA-x200 (I assume that this applies to all similar decks, such as the iDA-x300, 001, and 100). I ordered this from Crutchfield, and it arrived promptly and just as they said it would. This is not Crutchfield's fault at all. I checked on Alpine's website, and this remote was listed as an accessory for the iDA-x200. When I received this product, I noticed that it would do everything but the most important thing... control the iPod browsing feature of my deck. Due to the fact that the iDA-x200 is an "iPod only" receiver, this remote is basically useless to me.

I bought this in February for my Alpine CDA 9856 i have/had in my truck and it works great. I just updated my deck to the Alpine CDA 9883 and plan on putting the CDA 9856 in my boat and came back to Crutchfield to get a second remote.
Great cd decks and the remote works Both.
