I got these speakers for my 2003 Dodge Dakota. The installation was a big, old-fashioned pain, but that's what I get for buying them from "Gigantic Electronics Store That Isn't Crutchfield". The problem was that these speakers are not a direct replacement in my vehicle, which I would have known before buying if I had gone through Crutchfield!
Again, I'm kicking myself for not buying from Crutchfield, since that meant I didn't get a nice little adaptor for wiring them into the factory wiring system and had to solder and splice a lot more than even I would have liked. The point of all this is: don't buy from anybody but Crutchfield unless you're ready to dedicate an inordinate amount of time to the project. I had already gotten my head unit, sub, and amp from Crutchfield, then decided to replace the factory speakers as well, and didn't want to wait for shipping.
These speakers sound really good. I'm powering them with an Alpine MRP F-300 4-channel amp, and they deliver the sound loud and clear. The bass is strong, and the highs are loud and clear as a fine crystal champagne glass. Believe me when I say thay your factory speakers do not sound as good as these. I would buy them again in a heartbeat; my only regret is the amount of time I wasted in the garage by not going through Crutchfield.

I just purchased these speakers to replace the OEM 6 1/2s in my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. Up until 3 years ago I had never owned an Alpine product. On that day, I was going to purchase a pair of Rockford Fosgate 6x9s in the rear deck of my 03 Bonneville and they were sold out of the speakers I wanted. I let them sell me on some Alpine 6x9s and have never looked back.
Right now I am running these on the power of a Kenwood KDC-X492 head unit (which I have also reviewed), but I have plans to upgrade to an external amplifier in the near future. The sound is surprisingly clean. There is some distortion when I turn the volume all the way up on certain bass heavy songs; but these speakers are not made for that type of use.
They play higher frequencies with great accuracy. The combination of music that I listen to has given me the opportunity to hear them reproduce a wide variety of vocal ranges, as well as guitars, pianos, horns, and artificially created bass like rap music.
In the next month or so I plan to add an external amplifier to these speakers and a subwoofer to supplement the low-end and I firmly believe that I will have an amazing full-range audio system at a reasonable price.

Put these speakers in the rear deck of my 03 civic hybrid and the adapters that came with them even worked with the mounting configuration for the stock speakers... not to mention that they sound great and put out the best bass of any 6.5" speaker I have ever heard. For the front, they fit after putting in a 1" spacer, drilling new mounting holes, and finally shaving a bit of the plastic ring off the inside of the door panel that goes around the speakers. (This is pretty much needed for any speaker that is not shallow mount, the original speakers were VERY thin). Could not be happier with the purchase!
