Just point and shoot or be creative — this camera gives you worry-free options either way. You can stay in auto mode, use special scene modes, or manually choose exposure settings. The Canon SD1100 has an 8-megapixel imaging sensor designed to deliver clean photos with true-to-life colours. Easily frame your shots on the 2-1/2" LCD screen, or set them up using the optical viewfinder.

Snap natural photos of your favourite subject with the SD1100's face detection feature. It automatically focuses on faces in your frame, and adjusts exposure and colour to record more realistic skin tones, regardless of what the lighting is like. Motion detection technology can evaluate just how fast your toddler moves — the camera keeps up by setting optimal sensitivity and exposure, so you get blur-free results. And the icing on the cake? This camera comes in five cool colours.

An included 32-megabyte memory card holds about 8 photos or 14 seconds of video at top resolution — add higher-capacity SD™ cards for more picture and video storage.

Can't beat a Canon June 8, 2008

If you are looking for a small point and shoot camera this camera is for you. The first thing that totally impressed me was how fast this camera powers up and is ready to shoot your pictures in just about a second. I got the blue camera and it is a beautiful color and the camera just looks sharp.

A neat feature which another Canon we have has, is when you preview your pictures on the camera and rotate your camera the picture will adjust so you can still see it, but it will resize your picture on the LCD to fit the screen.

Picture quality is superior to any digital camera I have seen or tested.

This camera is affordable, which only sweetens this deal. I do recommend buying a 2 GB or larger memory card and a camera case.

One thing I have noticed on both of my Canon digital cameras is when you go to function set to adjust the picture resolution; you can scroll to what is called normal, fine and superfine. I have set both of my cameras to normal and my picture quality is no different than if I set it to superfine.

Setting it to superfine or fine will only increase your picture file size with no noticeable gain in picture quality when viewed on your computer. Reducing the picture file size will make writing your picture to your memory card faster and you will be ready to shoot another picture faster.

You will not be disappointed. I promise.
