I received this turntable last thursday and it has been seeing alot of action! I had about 100 lp's been sitting in my miller high life crate since like 83 so i decided it was time to get a turntable. I think it has very good sound quality i started to get the audio one that had the software and cables included but i chose this one because of the wow and flutter number it was lower than the audo techs. And from the old days a lower number means mo sound to noise like s/n ratio. i have been putting the lp's on computer and burning them to cd i bought the turntable from one of my favorite sales people Rhonda ext 4068(doesnt hurt to talk to a sweet talking woman does it ) been dealing with crutchfield for almost 20 years a first class company! The only reason i gave it a 4 was it would have been great to be able to change the stylus to a different brand. enjoy!!!!!!!

This player works great. I boguht it as a Christmas present for my parents and they loved it. The sound quality is amazing, and it just looks way cooler than a plain old cd player.

I hadn't had a functional turntable for many years, but I still had a pile of LP's ranging from never-played to well-worn. I bought this Denon and also bought a patch cord to connect it to my PC. The built-in preamp in this turntable allowed me to play LP's directly into the sound card (using PolderBits recording and editing software), then burn to CD. Now I have all my old favorite LP's on CD. This turntable is pretty minimal, but works great and sounds fine. Like some other reviews say, it's not fancy or top of the line, but a good value. I would sure recommend it for someone wanting to dust off and enjoy those old LP's but not spend a lot of money doing so. And I've always thought you can't go wrong buying from Crutchfield.

I purchased the Denon DP-29F because my wonderful Onkyo CP-1046F direct drive, fully automatic turntable (Great Specs) gave up the ghost after 22 years. I shopped locally for a turntable and only found cheaply built Sony and Audio-Technica models so devoid of quality that I passed them up, despite the low prices. Indeed, everything available with quality and specs similar to my Onkyo was $700 or more! Crutchfield is one of my favorite stores, so I looked online and found the Denon. Denon has a good reputation, so I thought I'd try it. Bad choice - This particular Denon has no user cueing feature, a non-steady belt drive (do you LIKE the singer to slur her words?), and a cartridge that is fixed permanently to the tonearm. You can't change the cartridge for a better one! This was particularly disappointing because the sound quality of the standard cartridge was very poor; I'd call it tinny! Not much midrange and little bass. I cannot recommend this cheaply built, poor quality turntable. I suggest having a quality turntable repaired (as I'm going to do), or spend a little more and get a better turntable, preferably direct drive with user cueing and a removable cartridge. I contacted Crutchfield and explained my disappointment, indicating I wanted to return the item. Crutchfield's response was "No problem! Happy to be of service :)" I bought the wrong turntable, but I bought it from the right place. Crutchfield customer service is second to none!

My record collection is mostly from garage sales etc... so I was not looking to spend too much $$.
Pros: I was very impressed (and surprised) with the quality of the sound and it was easy to hook up using the built in preamp, which many turntables do not have.
Cons: You get what you pay for; the turntable is no frills.
Summary: If you are looking for a high end turntable this is not it, but if you want to dust off your old LP's and enjoy them again with out spending big $$ this turntable is a good choice.
