This unit works almost as advertised. It does make and receive phone calls. It integrates well with the audio, video and navigation units. When a phone call is received, the other function is muted.
The documentation that I received with the unit did not not match my head unit DDX8019. The 8019 did have some documentation for the BT-100 but it isn't complete.
My phonebook icon is greyed out so I have to manually enter all phone numbers...that kind of defeats the safety issue of not having to watch the phone while driving. There is nothing in the manual or website to help me figure this out.
And the website... there is nothing useful here. Don't bother looking unless you plan to register your head unit. The manuals for the head units are on the website but not for the accessories i.e. KCA-BT100.

I bought this and the MP-535U head unit at the same time. It was breeze to install and mount in my 2006 Mustang coupe with the shaker 1000 stereo. I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 and this works great with it. It automaticly senses the phone when I turn on the ignition. It is so nice not having to try and drive and hold a phone (especially since I have a manual transmission). The music turns off during an incoming or outgoing call and you can upload your address book to see who the calls are from. This is a much safer way to operate a cell phone especially in the awful stop and go traffic at 5:00pm here.

This has been a great unit up until I had to upgrade my windows mobile 5. Now the system asks for the passcode everytime I turn the unit on. Very annoying. I called crutchfield tech support and they were able to verify that the unit doesn't work well with Windows Mobile 5 and up. If you have a Windows mobile based phone this is likely not a good choice.

Works Like A Charm |

I have this installed with a DDX-8019 and I'm very impressed. Does everything most people would need!
No longer do I miss phone calls because I was playing the music too loud to hear the phone ring. And now, hands free is the law in CA. I have a total of 3 cellphones registered with it, Cingular PDA,Blackberry and a Sliver. So far I've only been able to get the Blackberry to transfer it's address book. However I think this is more a limitation of the phones.
I don't do a lot of dialing out from car, but it's straight forward if you need to. Answering calls can be setup to occur automatically after a number of rings or you can just press one button.
Audio quality is good both directions.I especially love the way it softly cuts in/out when you receive a call then hang up. My car has high power AMPS and this was a big concern to me.
The only problem I had installing was due to the number of accessories I have and required me to gang them up with the use of the KCA-S220A.
Enjoy!

Cannot enter numbers/tones during call |

The one major problem with this unit is that you cannot enter a number/tone during a call..
"Please enter '1' to continue" .. and you must use the hand set to enter the "1".. "*" to end.. use handset..
So, checking voicemail, and navigating Customer Service phone trees is not possbile via the head unit.
