Good mids and highs for a 4x6 speaker |

I am using these as my front speakers in my 1994 Chevy S10 Blazer; they are powered by a Sony CDX-F7005X headunit. When I tested these speakers they produced good mids and highs for speakers of this size, however my truck has its speaker openings in the top of the dash facing up at the windshield, so the sound bounces of it and doesn't sound exactly right. Also, don't expect to get any bass out of these speakers; they are too small for that. I have 150hz bass blockers on them so they don't burn up when I crank up the volume. But overall these speakers are very good, as long as you have another set of high powered speakers or a subwoofer to provide bass.

Using these speakers in a 93 S10 Blazer, powered by a Sony CDX-R5515X head unit. Installed 300 Hz Bass Blockers. Sound quality is clean with excellent highs and good midrange. They rival the Polks I had in my previous Blazer. I'd imagine they are about as good as it gets for a speaker of this size. They blend in well with the 6" kickers in the rear doors and 10" sub.

I replaced the factory speakers in my 2000 Chevy Silverado.....big mistake! The cheap factory speakers sound much better than the Kicker 4x6. Go figure. I put the factory speakers back in.

The best thing about these speakers to me is the size. Highs are great, crisp, and clear. But if you have any ideals of getting any bass from these think again. You must use bass blockers or I recommend an amp or stereo with high pass filters or croosovers. These werent meant to be anything other than high frequency speakers as size would suggest. Great factory replacements for many GMs however my first pair of these were meant for a 2001 Chevy S-10 dash, dont think about it guys fit will not work. I tried even though crutchfield said no. Take the experts advice. I wound up giving the first set to a friend.
I currently have my second pair of these in my 1999 Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab as (rear door replacements). I also added the Kenwood KFC-605ie components as (front door replacements), the Kenwood KAC-6401 30X4rms amp to push them, and an powered MTX Thunderform (vehicle specific sub) for the added bang of bass. This is an amazing system for my budget, and the fact sound quality was the most important factor to me. (Superb sound inside, stealth outside.)
Power rating for these speakers is low at 20 watts rms but unless you want the neighborhood to hear them they will be fine. I am pushing them with a Kenwood 30X4 watts rms amp and its more watts than I can stand wide opened however I dont generally listen at wide open volumes so the extra 10 watts from the amp has no affect on the speakers ability to perform.
Ive had this system for a full year now and still going strong. Highs are crisp and clear.
I would buy them again. and highly recommend them if you have factory 4X6 slots and are looking to upgrade without custom installation

Excellent choice for this size speaker |

This speaker is great for its size. The mids and highs are stunningly clear. Bass isn't all that impressive, but they make bass as well as any 4x6 speaker that isn't a plate with a separate woofer. I have them installed in my dash, so they don't really have much of an enclosure to help the bass production. I do, however, recommend a high pass filter around 80-100Hz. I have mine on an 80Hz high pass filter, and they sound great this way when used with a subwoofer. I used them before I had the subwoofer, and they definitely sound worlds better than the stock Chevrolet truck 4x6's. I would buy these speakers again. The price is worth it for the clarity of sound (mids and highs).
