The differences in replacement audio is wide spread and these days the formats are rampent. yet when you own over 500 cassette tapes- the choice is a moot point. Before I purchased this Kenwood I owned a JVC cassette with remote control- and was quite pleased with it, until it ate my bent tape and the needlenosed pliers was no match for it. The quick replacement and a better price was the KENWOOD. and onced I figured out the controls It is quite alright. -one thing gets me is that with the JVC, I was able to crank it up to the end of the volume(180 watts) without distortion. the Kenwood is a different story- with a numerical value of 35 -at 29, the same speakers quickly get out of shape so to speak. WITHOUT GETTING FUSSY THE KENWOOD IS GOOD AND SOLID REPLACEMENT..

I ordered this receiver to replace the broken tape deck in my '99 Subaru wagon. Didn't want anything fancy given the age and condidtion of my car. This receiver has improved the overall sound quality in my car and I am very pleased to have it. I found it a little more difficult to install than I had anticipated (I needed some tools -- like a right-angle screwdriver -- that weren't listed on the instructions), but given that I am electronically-challeneged, this is not so surprising. But, Crutchfield's support line was super helpful, courteous and patient.

I was looking for a good solid unit for my motorhome that sits for long periods of time in a dry climate. This atmosphere dictates a unit that will withstand high temps. Budget was a big factor. This cassette player holds up well. It is a little thin on the bass, but, it is offset by the features it contains. A lot of features is why I rate it 3 stars. Each button, which there are many, performs mutiple functions that are poorly identified. Impossible for the driver to change while operating the vehicle. This good sounding unit must be set before you drive, it is rather confusing. It is well worth the money and I would still purchase it again. I am satisfied but still wish for a simpler to operate unit,a 1980s unit that has this sound technology.

We use a number of these stereo's here at a minesite. This is a very harsh environment because it is off-road and dusty. These stereo's have proven very durable and have lasted longer than anything else we've tried.
