These stands make a great match for Mirage's popular NANOSAT and NANOSAT Prestige satellite speakers. The cast metal base provides a sturdy foundation and a hidden channel in the support shaft keeps speaker wire out of sight for a clean, uncluttered appearance.

It works, but... September 11, 2008
Reviewer: RTH from Mississippi
Was the engineer who designed these things asleep on the day they taught that you can't push a string?

He must have been, because that's what these stands expect you to do...push the speaker wire from a small hole in the bottom upward to another impossibly small hole at the top.

It's doable, but it took about an hour and a lot of experimenting with various tools such as tweezers and a small, thin file to reach in and lift the speaker wire up where I could grab it.

I didn't have any problems with the threading. Other than the issue of getting the speaker wire up the channel, they assemble fairly easily, they accept the speakers without any problems and they look nice. It's just getting to that point that's the real trick.

Speaker Stands for A Handyman August 9, 2008
Reviewer: Eric from Chicago, IL
As prior reviewers have mentioned, these stands will not work correctly with Nanosat speakers without drilling out improperly threaded mounting holes.

Again as mentioned, getting quality speaker wires through the stands will be challenging, unless the cables are relatively thin.

Further, in my case, one of the main stand poles did not have any threads tapped (though the hole was drilled), so it was out to my local hardware store to buy the applicable metric tap to make the supplied screw work.

It should also be noted that these are not actually Mirage stands. Nowhere on the box did the Mirage brand appear -- instead the manufacturer appears to be API, which might explain the quality control issues.

Having said all that, once assembled, the stands are attractive, solid quality and very stable. As such I bumped up my rating from the minimum one star to two stars.   Just be prepared to use your handyman skills getting these put together.

Doesn't fit Mirage Nanostat without Modification July 8, 2008
Reviewer: Kevin from Denver, CO
Like the other reviewer stated the brackets included for these stands do not fit the mirage nanostats properly.

You have to widen the hole on the bracket that you screw the nanostats to otherwise the speakers are very wobbly when attached.  I used a 1/4" drill bit to widen the hole and that allows the speakers to be attached properly.

Very disappointed with this product as it is sold/designed to fit the Mirage nanostats and in reality doesnt.  On the instructions there are directions for the Omnistat Micros and the Athena MS Satellites possibly they are really designed for these speakers.  However on all websites included mirage's these are the stand they recommend for the nanostats.

Another drawback is the design for the wire to fit through the included poles, the holes are way to small especially if you plan on using an upgraded speaker wire.  The holes are smaller than 3/4" and running wire is extremely difficult.  Plus the wire doesnt run all the way through the base it comes out of the bottom of the pole which isn't a huge deal but could be more professional looking.

I have the Bose stands designed for the 301 series as my front speakers and they were a pleasure to put together and actually worked for the product they were sold with and recieve a rating of 5 stars.

Once setup these stands are decent and I guess the best stand out there for the Nanostats...however beware setup is a real pain and requires modification.

Need to be modified to fit the Nanosat July 3, 2008
Reviewer: Steven from San Francisco, CA
Despite the claims,
these don't git the
Nanosat speakers
without some
modification. A hole
in the mount comes
tapped, but needs to
be drilled out to
allow mounting of
the Nanosat. Buy it
and you'll see what
I mean.

After the minor
modification the
speakers do work
well, but it's kind
of crazy that
they're sold with
the wrong mounting
scheme.
