Even though I am using a 100 watt cheap Sony amp (DG520) for a basic 2.1 application, I've got something really special. I've paired my NANOSATS with Mirage's S-8 powered subwoofer. All I can say is that this is absolutely an affordable way to make a small room seem like it's an IMAX. well, not really, but at least like a much more expensive system. The small satellites (slightly smaller than non-Lifestyle Bose satellites) put out a ton of sound and deliver beautiful highs and mids. The lows are booming from the compact powered S-8. I watched King Kong last night and was thrilled with the output. Times are tough. Money is tight. If you need to drown out the outside world, this is a great and affordable way to do it. Thank you Crutchfield!

It's a very good subwoofer and it complements my Mirage Nanosat speakers. The sound of the bass is superb compared to other subwoofers that I have purchased in the past.

Amazing Little Sub! |

Just replaced an old Bose Lifestyle system (no loss there) with an Onkyo 703 receiver (great price at Crutchfield), 4 Mirage Nanosat Prestige sats, 1 Mirage Nanosat Prestige center-channel, and the Mirage S8 sub in a 16'x20' carpeted room (13' foot listening/viewing distance) with 8' ceilings that is fairly open to the rest of our medium-sized condo. I have the S8 about 6' away from a corner, 1' away from the cabinet-style tv stand, and less than 1' away from the wall behind it with the front/cone facing the listener. I have all the sat crossovers and LFE low-pass filter set via the Onkyo at 120Mhz (Mirage's recommendation); the sound is very seamless/natural and deep. My ears started to hurt long before I could detect any significant distortion out of the S8 (or the sats). Contrary to another reviewer, there is NO sign of boominess, which might be attributable to placement, crossover, and/or level adjustment issues. Oh, and did I mention that the S8 is very nicely finished and looks great without overpowering the room? I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase (cripes, even my wife likes it)! Now, if you have a notably larger room, high ceilings and/or like to crank it up to ear-bleeding levels with lots of people yelling/dancing, you may want to consider the S10 or S12.

Good sub, very tight and clean sounding. I purchased the 8 inch version hoping it would fill the sound gap I had in my stereo/theater system. My only complaint is I wish the sub wasn't so boomy when it's cranked up. Otherwise a wise purchase. Crutchfield support is TOP NOTCH as always .
