The Onkyo TX-8222 was made for audio enthusiasts who want great stereo sound but don't need all the bells and whistles of a home theatre model. It's perfect for that cozy den or bedroom where you can relax and just listen to music. And Onkyo's rock-solid construction and careful attention to detail ensure that your sound stays pure, powerful, and dynamic at all times.

At the heart of the '8222's impressive performance is Onkyo's renowned low-impedance amplifier design. Its oversized, shielded transformer provides maximum power capacity and stability with minimum hum. An efficient heavy-duty extruded aluminum heat sink ensures cooler operation and longer life from your receiver. Plus the rigid, reinforced chassis and aluminum front panel fight performance-robbing vibration. It all adds up to stellar sound, and the ability to drive your speakers with ease.

The '8222 provides plenty of inputs for all of your audio gear. You can connect up to six components, including a turntable. The built-in AM/FM tuner features 40 presets for all your favourite radio stations, plus direct access tuning to quickly jump to a specific frequency. Two sets of main speaker outputs let you connect an additional pair of speakers.

Nice receiver for the price. August 30, 2008
Reviewer: Mike from Alaska
Nice receiver, but needs a mid pot in addition to bass and treble.  If it had that, I would rate it a 5.  Either that or Onkyo should sell a nice graphic EQ to go with it.

I'm very happy. July 12, 2008
Reviewer: Mary from Spotsylvania, VA
As a first venture into buying stereo equipment in over thirty years I didn't really know what to get or what I needed and was limited in funds I was willing to spend. I had a couple of old speakers I bought thrifting that work great and I needed a receiver and CD player . I went shopping locally but saw nothing in the big box stores but giant boombox types or shelf systems that seemed monstrous. I knew I would want to add to the system over time so I wanted the start of something. I went to a local store, who had nothing in my price range, but luckily the salesman there had once worked at Crutchfield's. He was great and recommended the Onkyo as a good receiver for me. I took his advice and am very glad I did. I went online to Crutchfield's and found the receiver right away. It came and I had no trouble hooking up the speakers and CD player I also bought. With the old speakers, it fills the house and sounds great. I can even get radio reception, which is almost unheard of where I am. It was a great way for me to start listening to music again and getting my second wind for life.

A Great Product April 3, 2008
Reviewer: Gwen from Landover, MD
I purchased the Onkyo TX 8222 receiver to replace a 25 year old Onkyo
receiver.   I have the receiver hooked up to a pair of Cambridge
Soundworks Newton Series bookshelf speakers.   The sound is incredible!
This is a great product for a very reasonable price.  I highly recommend it.

Ipod Intergration Deceiving March 5, 2008
Reviewer: Vincent from San Jacinto CA
The ipod intergration for this unit is Ipod out to RCA jack in. You must use
the ipod for making changes, the face of the receiver does not display any
ipod information. Other than that is is OK.

Nice stereo receiver February 18, 2008
Reviewer: cthelightnh from New Hampshire
This is a great stereo receiver.  I am using it my den and it was easy to set up.  It is easy to use. The sound is very good.  It is used as a CD and radio system primarily but I did hook up my turntable too.  I am using a pair of older Kenwood speakers (KLX-999s) and the receiver has plenty of power for these.  I believe this a good value as it seems to be a very solid product.
