I needed a new sub with alittle more punch so a went with the dsw-400 I must say for a 8'' sub you will not be sorry. the dsw-400 as a very deep and clean sound with movies or music I went with the Scratch & Dent price and it was in mint condition. I really like the down firing speaker set-up and the remote as well thanks again earl and cruthfield for your help. you have a customer for life!!!

Replaced a Yamaha 8" 200W sub with this one, and the difference is extremely palpable. I wouldn't have thought that possible considering the specs are virtually the same -- guess that goes to show that specs aren't everything. The Yamaha used to rattle...this thing just rumbles and pumps. I like a lot of bass in my movies and music, and in a pretty large, open, airy game room the dsw pro 400 delivers just the right amount.

I have been waiting to upgrade my Subwoofer for a while. This is a excellent down firing sub! I have it hooked up to a Sony DA 3100ES 125 W Reciever with a Polk RM 6900 Front and Center speaker and RM 6800 with (B TECH) BT34S Mounts in my living room. The sub is hooked up LFE Monster Style. It is perfect for Movies and Music in HD Radio and Sirus. The BLUE LED is COOL. I love the remote control. This a PURE POLK SYSTEM! It is just the right size the 180W is perfect! Crutchfield was a great help in choosing this sub for my room size!

Purchased the Pro400 for my medium sized 14x19 family/HT room to complement my Denon/Boston/Polk 7.1 home theater receiver & speaker setup.
The Pro400 sound out-of-the-box is very good, much better than the 10" 120W front firing sub it's replacing, although I'm still getting used to the expansive bass wave from the down-firing setup vs front firing setups.
The bass is punchy and controlled not boomy, and extension and sustain is clear and distirtion free, possibly due to the Digital Amp design, the speaker build quality is top notch and the remote is super convenient while setting it up, after that then it's adjusted via the Denon's bass management parameters.
I'm sure I'll get even better sound from it once I experiment with speaker placement in my room.
Great buy for anyone looking for great bass in a relatively small & tidy package. Boston and Polk speakers have never let me down, I highly recommend them for the budget minded enthusiasts out there, like me ....
