This unit is less than six months old. It no longer recognizes discs. It runs through all five and then flashes NO DISC. Not my first let down with a sony product. Maybe they should spend less time on video games and a bit more on home audio!

I purchased this CD player in April 2007. It started failing after about 3 months of use. It started not even recognizing CDs were on the carousel no matter what type of CD was being played. I might as well of bought a cheap "all in one unit" like my CD/Tuner/Tape deck I have in the garage. I used to have a Technics 5 disc CD carousel that lasted from 1990 until 1998 and a Yamaha that lasted another 8 years after that and they were kept in great condition, no exposure to dust, ski wax, solvents, etc. I can't say that I'm happy I'm out $130, but I guess lession learned.

The first disc player I bought worked ok until the lightning strike. It was fried. I can't blame Sony for that one, but I replaced it with an identical unit and less than 1 year later, it's in the garbage can. It wouldn't open, wouldn't respond to remote control, wouldn't change discs, etc, etc, etc....

It's okay if your expectations aren't too high.... |

I've had this unit for about 6 months, and use it for the stereo system in the basement that is tied to the Bose outdoor party speakers off our patio. Hooked it up to an older Sony ES series receiver I had, and it sounds fine for what it is. It's very light which tells me it's not that well built, but for a little over $100 what do you expect? The disc changer is noisy when changing discs, but I haven't experienced any problems with skipping (yet). I like the ability to fast search part way through a song, in addition to the full track skip feature. I would probably choose a different brand with better specs, etc., if I were looking for an audiophile quality unit, but for a party player, this thing fits the bill and provides a few hours of uninterrupted music which is all I need.
