Happy with this stereo |

I replaced the factory CD player in my 2003 Saturn Ion with this unit. I am quite happy with it. As other reviewers said, the functions are simple and intuitive. It is just a good, basic unit with the very valuable auxillary input jack. I haven’t noticed any big improvement in sound quality over my factory unit, but that’s ok - my factory unit sounded fine (it just skipped CDs excessively and lacked an aux input jack).
I have zero previous experience working with car stereo equipment but was able to successfully install this unit in a leisurely 2 hours (I took some breaks and had some distractions). Most of that time was spent stripping the wires on the harness that comes with the unit. I have a cheap wire stripping tool that wasn’t working on these wires, so I resorted to using a razor blade. The harness adapter that I purchased from Crutchfield thankfully came pre-stripped.
The installation instructions that Crutchfield provides could be a little more detailed, but overall they were adequate to get the job done. I am thankful that they saved me an installation fee. I am also very thankful that Crutchfield tells you what additional parts you will need for the installation – in my case I needed a harness adapter and a plastic trim piece that holds the CD player in place. Their shipping is very fast as well.
One reviewer said he was annoyed by the warning beeps when you turn off the car, but leave the faceplate on. I agree that I would rather not have them, but I find them to be pretty innocuous and easy to ignore. It’s a simple little chime, nothing too annoying in my opinion.

Replaced an aftermarket receiver in our 1999 Grand Caravan that had "eaten" a CD. For the price this is a great little receiver from a reputable company (Sony). Very little trouble with the install. Connecting all the wires was tedious, but doable. The wiring harnesses were great or it would have been torturous to install. Crutchfield rocks with all the helpful install sheets that are vehicle specific. This $80 recever would have cost me $$$$$ to get a "professional" install. Thanks for helping the common man.

this may not be the best head unit ever, but its a pretty darn good one for only 80 bucks, and one of the people who rated this said that you can't hook up an amplifier to this head unit...... my buddy has a amp hooked right up to this head unit, and it pounds
you get what you pay for, but in this case you get alot more for less

The Sony CDX-GT110 is a great receiver for the price. It has a great sound and won't hurt you to bad in the wallet. Easy to install and comes with some great features that you would not normally get in a unit at this price. I would recommend this receiver to anyone who is looking to replace a "basic" receiver. If you are looking for a "high" performance unit, this is not the one for you. It does have a EQ built in and is programable. I think you will be as pleased with this receiver as I am.
