Given Sony's reputation, I expected great things from this receiver. The stereo performs very much as expected.
The Dynamic Soundstage Orgainzer (DSO) works very well in my van. It compensates well for the speakers being mounted low in the doors.
My only complaint is a minor static sound which comes thru the speakers when switching on the tuner. I have not found a source for this. It only lasts for about 1 sec. The tuner reception is very good otherwise.
Installation was a breeze with the supplied installation kit. Installed into 1995 Toyota Previa Van. The fold-down face prevents dust from entering the CD port. Given the slope of the dash in my vehicle, this was a critical feature in a new receiver.

Very easy install in a 2004 Dodge 1500. All the necessary components were provided, and the dash adapter looks great. Worked the first time with no hassles, to include the Sirius reciever.

Sound is painful |

I bought this receiver since it had so many great reviews. This receiver has horrible sound. WAYYYYYYY too tinny. There's no bass, and none of the preset EQs will give me the bass I'd like. I'm not talking like I want a lot of bass - but how about SOME?? If you look at some of the other reviews, you'll see mention of lack of bass as well - even though they were still rated it a 5. I can honestly say listening to music on this is painful. I can't say that about any other aftermarket radio I've ever installed, which includes Panasonic, Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion. This is not to flame Sony. I have a Sony WEGA tv that is great, and Sony stereo components at home - but this is a huge disappointment.
I can't overlook it. I'm sending this unit back.

Don't Hesitate to Pick One Up For Yourself |

My 2001 Ford Expedition XLT (without Mach audio system) is rockin' and rollin'! The shipment arrived on time as scheduled (at no cost to me) with everything that I ordered in perfect condition. Having never ordered anything from Crutchfield, I was extremely pleased with the site's ease of use and the excellent selection of products they have on hand. After reading every review I could get my hands on (at other sites as well) I decided that the Sony CDX-GT510 was the very best receiver I could ask for, considering the different needs I wanted met. I wanted something that blended well with my dash, nothing too flashy, so the display and illumination was important. Also, I wanted a receiver that was easy to operate but offered plenty of simple options to enhance my listening experience. Of course I wanted it to have plenty of power, but I definitely wanted a high quality product that would put my factory speakers to good use. Lastly, the Sony iPOD Adapter was a must have, as I rarely listen to my cds anymore after acquiring a 20GB iPod.
So how did it all turn out? Fantastic. I've never installed a receiver before but felt encouraged by the wealth of data found here and knowing that detailed instructions for installation would be provided. Did I mention that everything needed to install the receiver including dash kit and the wiring harness was completely free? Big plus when you compare the money you spend having a big box chain install it for you. Taking my time and enjoying every minute of it, I installed the receiver and iPod adapter in about 2 hours. The hardest part was getting my old crusty battery cable disconnected before I pulled my factory stereo! I found the Posi-Products (16 piece) Connector Kit worth the $5 bucks since I didn't have a crimping tool or a soldering iron. After connecting the wires (which may take some patience) I wrapped each connection with electrical tape and was ready to install. At this point, I followed the simple instructions provided for removing the dash panel with ease, removed the factory head-unit with the DIN clips and hooked the Sony up. It took me a second to decide where to place the iPod Adapter but found plenty of room behind and underneath the receiver space to attach it and run the cable for the iPod down through the bottom of the dash. It tucks away quite neatly and most will never know it's even there as the player sits in the left-sided slot-pocket on the center console. Everything powered up on the first try and blew me away with how wonderful it actually looked completely installed. The option for the red or green button illumination and blue display looks perfect in my Ford.
The sound? For a guy that is not interested in replacing his factory speakers just yet, it's amazing. Everything that I wanted. Really makes my speakers come to life. Furthermore, having the ability to listen to my iPod for the first time in my truck without that annoying hiss from the cassette adapter and hearing the s

I got this unit last week and installed the same day. The included wiring harness made life much simpler. I installed it in a 2005 Grand Caravan ads I can tell the difference already in the sound quality. Crutchfield makes it so easy to get it right the first time. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I will!
