Description Features Crutchfield Hands-on Research Accessories

Turn special moments into high-def memories with Sony's HDR-SR11. This camcorder captures footage to a built-in 60-gigabyte hard drive, so you can store hours and hours of scenes without running out of room to record. And it delivers smooth, crisp video in 1080i, the same resolution used for most high-definition TV shows.

Sophisticated lens and image sensor provide superb video
The 'SR11 features an advanced Carl Zeiss® lens and a 3.8-megapixel image sensor for detailed, lifelike footage. Optical image stabilization keeps your handheld shots steady without degrading the picture quality of your recordings.

Handy controls for automatic and manual shooting
A manual dial located on the 'SR11's lens barrel puts enhanced shooting control at your fingertips. You can use it to make precise manual focus adjustments or change exposure settings to give your high-def movies the right look. Or, turn off the control dial altogether and use the "Easy" button for fully automatic, worry-free videotaping.

Widescreen movies and photos
The 16:9 flip-out LCD makes it easy to compose scenes that match your widescreen TV at home, and then review them afterward. Plus, the large 3-3/16" LCD is a touchpanel — you just tap it to move through the cam's menus and options. Handy buttons located beside the LCD let you control the zoom and record functions. Use digital photo mode to snap pictures in standard or 16:9 widescreen format. There's even a Dual Record mode for capturing sharp digital pictures while simultaneously filming video.

Share your memories
A mini HDMI output allows you to send high-definition video and digital audio to a compatible TV or audio/video component through a single optional cable. And it's easy to transfer videos and photos to a PC via the included Handycam Station™. Connect the station to your computer's USB port, then simply set the 'SR11 in place whenever you want to transfer video and photos. Plus, the docking station's audio/video connections let you drop in the camcorder to quickly view your videos on your TV.

What A Camcorder!!! October 18, 2008
Reviewer: Vincent from Lompoc, California
The biggest reason I bought this camcorder is because I have a compatible Sony 1080p TV (KDS-60A3000). I can record in x.v. color and they are BRAVIA/Theatre sync compatible.  The images are great!!! The only slightly negative thing is there is slightly poor quality in low light situations but in daylight or brightly lit room light the images are OUTSTANDING!!! I really enjoy the HD images on my TV.  I use the HDMI hookup. I have never seen sharper, clearer video images from a camcoder in my life. The size is a great fit for my hand also. The battery that comes with it is only a 90min battery so I bought a NPH-F100 as a back-up which lasts over 5 hours. Very easy to use the included software to download files to my computer. Burning DVD's on my computer is simple with the included software  but a little slow. When I burn DVD's I don't do any editing. I just make copies as a back-up and to enjoy on my Blu-Ray player. My computer has a Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz processor. Overall I find this camcorder very well built, very easy to use and a great value for the money spent.

Excellent Camcorder June 6, 2008
Reviewer: Jason from Vestal, NY
This camcorder is extremely sturdy and made of excellent materials. It
doesn't feel like anything will brake on you. Hard doors covering all ports
and terminals, not loose ruberized doors like on similar camcorders. I
absolutly love this camcorder and everything about it. It is replacing a three
year old Sony mini DV cam. The problem is is that I am used to editing my
DV footage on my computer. I have a older single core computer so editing
the footage is pretty much non existant with the SR11. I can dump the
footage on the computer just to back it up but that's about it. My computer
even has a hard time playing back the footage. So the only thing I can
recomend to get the footage onto a DVD is to purchase the additional DVD
Recorder VRD-MC5. It doesn't use a computer at all. The included software
with the SR11 is actually pretty good if you plan to edit footage with your
computer, I personally don't. The camcorder only faults in low light. When
shooting in low light, such as my wedding reception, the video is pretty
grainy and has a real hard time with autofocus. I found myself zooming in
and out when it is out of focus so that the lens can figure out what it
should be focusing on. The Camcorder is a little pricey too but other than
that, I would recomend it.
