Use as replacement to an old ES 5.1 reciever that I had for about 8 years. I have had it for about 6 months and had no problems with it yet. The only thing that has been an issue is that my older Sony TV does not have HDMI input so I have an HDMI to DVI cable, I cannot get any sound out of the reciever by just the HDMI cable. I don't know if this is a backtalk issue from the TV not being able to communicate with the reciever, but I shall find out in another week when I get my new TV. About the last review about the remote, I have a 3-1/2 year old Sony TV and a new Sony upconversion DVD player and the remote works with both of these just fine for the major controls. I used to have a sony remote with my old reciever that was a lot better and controlled everything, but Sony doesn't seem to make that anymore, I am just going to go with a nice Logitech Harmony remote next week when I have my new TV.

Programmable Remote? |

So far, I haven't had any problems with this reciever and it sounds really good with my Bose speakers. I was, however, disappointed that I couldn't Control my SONY DVD/VCR combo or my SONY TV with the receiver's remote. I thought they made those programmable, but it won't even run other SONY components. I guess it will work on a Bravia TV, but I'm not ready to spend that much money just so I can not use a second remote control.
I also thought that it should have some S-Video input/outputs, but it doesn't--so even though I have an RGB cable for my DVD player, I can't get any better picture that a regular old RCA-video-cable picture. I guess it's time to upgrade my TV.
